October Eggs ā€˜n’ Issues - Cap and Trade: All Cost. No Benefit.

Although there is no empirical or scientific evidence to support global warming, members of Congress are moving forward on capping carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions through cap and trade legislation. With outlandish costs to the economy and little benefit to global temperature, cap and trade would essentially operate as a compulsory government ration on coal, oil and natural gas. This interference with market forces would create an unmatched level of government intervention in the economy and energy sector.

It is important that all businesses understand the impact of this legislation on their ability to remain competitive. Join us for a public forum to learn the truth about global warming and the negative economic complications of cap and trade.

Consider this:

  • European countries participating in the 1998 Kyoto Protocol have incurred significant costs while failing to reduce emissions. In fact, nearly every participant has higher emissions today than in 1997, and rising at a faster rate than that of the United States.
  • Some estimates suggest anywhere between 1.7 and 7 million jobs could be lost under this tax plan.
  • It is anticipated that the average household will pay an additional $3,900 a year for energy because of this national tax.
