Safety Programs

As a leader in professional development programs for more than 20 years – the Manufacturer & Business Association’s expert trainers deliver the knowledge and skills you need to compete in today’s business world. Just ask a few of our more than 15,000 participants.

Workplace Violence

In 2009, more than 1,200 violent workplace incidents were reported to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). There are countless more that go unreported. Many of these incidents could have been avoided if people had been aware of the many signs that are usually evident prior to a violent act. We all have a responsibility to be vigilant and make our workplaces safe for both our co-workers and our customers

Please join us for an in-depth look at what has been called by many the number one problem facing the workplace today. Topics for discussion will include:

1) How workplace violence is defined and how recent incidents have impacted our workers, our businesses, and our community.
2) How to identify, engage, and properly deal with bullies in your organization.
3) The importance of adopting and developing a “best practice and control measures” supplement to your current policy
4) How to detect signs of impending violence.

Safety Hot Topics

OSHA’S National Emphasis Training addresses areas that present a very high safety concern, including combustible dust, recordkeeping and more. Presented by Compliance Management International, participants will learn about OSHA’s current programs and strategies that address these areas.

  • Contractor Safety: We’ll cover projects contracted out to vendors, reviewing who is responsible for their safety while they are on your site, what happens if one of their employees gets hurt while working at your facility, and whether your current contractor safety program is adequate.
  • Recordkeeping and Reporting: OSHA requires employers to record and report work related deaths, injuries and illnesses. Discover who is covered by OSHA for recordkeeping and reporting purposes, what are the rights and responsibilities of the employee and employer, what a recordable injury is and what needs to be reported to the government.
  • Most Frequently Cited Standards: Every year OSHA publishes the most frequently cited standards for the previous year. Review the results of this report and learn how to improve the safety culture at your facility.
  • Global Harmonization System (GHS): The GHS is a new system, developed by the UN and adopted by OSHA, that classifies and labels hazardous materials. It also impacts how MSDS’s are generated. Learn how this new system may impact your industry and what you can do to prepare.
