Patrick R. Locco Scholarship Awards
The Manufacturer & Business Association is proud to support technical education and one of the most impactful ways is through the Locco Awards, named in honor of the late Association Vice President Patrick R. Locco, a strong advocate of vocational education. The awards were created in 1972 (then known as the Golden Watch Awards) with the sole purpose — to recognize outstanding high school students who distinguish themselves in the pursuit of technical and academic excellence.
To be considered for this prestigious honor, students must apply and be nominated by a teacher. Each school then narrows the nominees to their top five candidates. Students are then interviewed by local businesspeople who ultimately choose the winners.
YES! Certificate Program
In collaboration with local school districts, employers and businesses, the Your Employability Skills Certificate Program, or YES™ Certificate program, is designed to help youth acquire the fundamental skills that employers regard as important to a well-trained workforce. The program addresses key concerns of employers while preparing applicants for quality employment opportunities and a pathway to a secure future.
YES™ was developed in York, Pennsylvania by the York Operating Partnership and has a proven record of success at the high school level and in adult continuing education programs.
Now available in northwestern Pennsylvania, the YES™ Certificate program includes a comprehensive, 120-hour course with rigorous certification requirements.
